INFANTS, BEGINNING AT 8 WEEKS

Our infant room offers a loving, stimulating environment that allows each child to develop at his or her own pace. We have designed a nurturing, creative world for infants to help their minds and bodies develop. The staff at Ruby's Academy realize that it can be difficult to leave your infant with just anyone's care and wonder if she or he is receiveing the same love and stimulation you would provide at home. The Ruby's Academy staff will take care of your child daily needs to ensure that your child meets his cognitive, emotional and physical milestones. We have a 4-to-1 infant to teacher ratio. Each baby has his/her own crib and the linens are changed frequently. Each child receives a Daily Report that indicates your child's daily feedings, diaper changes and naps. We are committed to making this first transition away from home easy and natural for you and your family.

TODDLERS, BEGINNING AT 12 MONTH by September 1st:

Our two-year olds are very busy-verbally and physically! Advancement into this room is based on each child's individual developmental readiness and age. Our staff use daily routines and social interaction through family style meals and other small group activities. We have tons of picture books, tapes and CD's that are used to increase color, shape and number recognition. The manipulative toys are used to promote hand to eye coordination. In this group of children we have a 6-to-1 child to teacher ratio which introduces toddlers to preschool with:
 Color and Shape of the month
Counting 1,2,3's
Music and Movement
Nursery Rhymes
Teacher assisted art activities
Regular communication between teachers and parents to keep you informed about your child's progress |
2 - 3 YEARS OLD
"Emerald Gems Class" |
The 2's and 3 year old group are full of curiosity and spend a great deal of time observing the world around them. Our little diamonds are frequently reading stories to build listening skill and are often asked to repeat the stories to develop memory skills. During this time in your child's life we will include a instructional outside play which will allow each child to have a healthier lifestyle. Also during this period we encourage the little diamonds to shine greatly by learning to interact with others in their peer group. Your children will also start working in group centers and work towards individual creativity through self expression activities |
3 - 4 YEARS OLD
"Pearls & Rubies" |
Our precious Pearls and Rubies will work towards improving their logical thinking skills. At Ruby's Academy the children will be demonstrating the following tasks:
Recognizes own feelings and manages them appropriately
demonstrates basic locomotor skills (running, jumping, galloping)
controls small muscles in hands
use tools for writing and drawing
express self using words and expanded sentences
comprehends and interprets meaning from books and other text
writes letters and words
uses numbers and counting
shows awareness of time concepts and sequence

OTHER / SPECIAL |
Our Spanish classes are held every Monday morning at 10:00 am. The program is designed to help introduce the children to a second language. The children will learn how to idenify and pronounce several body parts, numbers, letters, colors and phrases in Spanish. Our Spanish teacher enjoys working with young children. The children learn different Spanish customs and traditions. |
